Brochure and VideoTiruña S.L. is known world-wide as the most experienced manufacturer of corrugating rolls and pressure rolls for all types of single facers.
After more than 30 years supplying products to over 40 countries we can offer solutions tailored to each customer.
Tiruña S.L. can design and manufacture rolls to suit whatever type of machine and flute you may have, catering for any needs for special coatings and all types of paper. Tiruña also manufactures glue rolls (applicator and doctor rolls) for corrugating units.
Range of Products
Corrugating rolls (new and reground).
Pressure rolls (new and rectified).
Glue and doctor rolls (new and rectified).
Production Process
Tiruña corrugating rolls are made from solid blocks of special steel hollowed out as required by the steam chamber. Journal welding is completed with various stress relief operations.
Rolls are induction hardened in house to a depth of 4 mm. This greatly increases the useful lifetime of the rolls with no loss of initial hardness.
Cutting the flute is one of the most critical steps in manufacturing. We dispose of a large range of state of the art machinery that guarantees the quality of the finished product.
Investment in additional machinery has enabled Tiruña to raise production to 500 sets of corrugating rolls (new and reground) plus pressure rolls and glue rolls without compromising the company’s leading position in regard to lead time and total reliability of finished products. If special finishes are required, Tiruña can supply rolls with NuChrome (for which it holds the licence in Europe) or tungsten coating.
Rolls are subjected to numerous quality-control checks throughout the manufacturing process and after completion.
Before shipping rolls, Tiruña runs them through a final operational test to check that they will perform perfectly when actually installed on the customer’s single facer.
R & D

30 years of experience in the industry have enabled Tiruña to develop various systems for improving the performance of single facer machines and cutting the cost of producing corrugated boxboard. These systems include :
IDD (Internal Dynamic Damper): A system for absorbing vibrations in single facers at the two critical production speeds (80/ 180 m./min.).
DDS (Dry Dynamic System): A system for removing condensation from inside the roll without a siphon tube. This eliminates the banana effect in corrugating rolls following stoppages of the corrugating unit.
Peripheral heating : This improves the quality of the boxboard produced by reducing the temperature difference between the inside and outside of rolls.
Pyramid Profile : This was developed to reduce glue consumption in boxboard production without affecting performance in strength tests.
Total Quality

Tiruña has always had due regard for safety and quality as areas of vital importance.
All rolls manufactured or re-ground by Tiruña undergo multiple quality tests to ensure that products are supplied in optimum working condition.
Before shipping, products are subjected to stringent checks on linearity, roll convexity, profile cut quality and coating quality using an exclusive Tiruñaprogram that compares them with ideal profiles.
As part of its efforts to ensure total quality, Tiruña has obtained the following internationally recognised certificates: BS EN ISO 9001:2000, CE and ASME.
